Louisville Cools Down Cloverleaf 52-38, Secures Winning Season – Girls Basketball

The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team turned a tight halftime contest into a convincing 52-38 victory over the host Cloverleaf Colts in their regular season finale Monday night at Cloverleaf High School. Louisville heads into the postseason red hot, having won six straight, and clinching a winning season with a final regular season mark of 12-10.

Salmons Scores Game-High 16 to Lead Louisville
Mikayla Salmons scored 9 of her game-high 16 points in the first half to lead the Lady Leopards. Salmons scored from both the field and the free-throw line in every quarter.
Louisville trailed 13-12 at the end of the first quarter, but Salmons’ three-pointer in the final minute of the half put the Leopards in front 26-25 at the break.
Baker and Tillett Finish in Double Figures
Maggie Baker made a pair of three-pointers and scored 10 of her 14 points in the fourth quarter, helping Louisville rip the game open. Louisville led 34-31 at the end of the third, but outscored Cloverleaf 18-7 in the final stanza to secure their fifth consecutive double-digit victory.
Ella Tillett scored in every quarter and finished with 10 points, all from the floor. Mabel Kiko also scored in every quarter and just missed hitting double figures with 9. Lilly Seaman rounded out the Leopard scoring with a three-pointer in the opening quarter.
Seiwerth & Todd Lead Cloverleaf
Kendall Seiwerth scored in every period and totaled a team-high 10. Cameron Todd made 3 three-pointers in the opening quarter, including a buzzer-beater to put the Colts in front at the end of one. Louisville’s defense held her scoreless the rest of the way after that hot start.
Other top scorers for Cloverleaf included Evie Barth with 7 and Madi Young with 4. Merrin Crow also made a three-pointer in the fourth quarter and Addie Evans also added a basket in the fourth quarter. Kayla Shook rounded out the Colts’ scoring by going 2-for-4 from the free throw stripe.
Cloverleaf entered the game riding a five-game overall winning streak and a seven-game home winning streak. The Colts finish the regular season 17-5 overall and 10-3 at home.
This marked the first-ever meeting between Louisville and Cloverleaf. The Colts are the 93rd unique opponent the Lady Leopards have faced all-time and the fourth out of five new opponents on their schedule this season. Louisville will host that fifth new opponent, Bedford, in the Sectional Finals Saturday seeking their third consecutive sectional title.
UP NEXT: The #24 seed Lady Leopards will next host the #36 seed Bedford Bearcats in the DIII Northeast 4 Sectional Finals on Saturday, February 21. Game time is set for 4:00 PM from Louisville High School.
