Canton South 16, Louisville 14
Andy Bourquin made a 20 yard field goal with just 58 seconds remaining to lift the Canton South Wildcats over the visiting Louisville Leopards 16-14 on October 22, 1999.
The Wildcats got on the board early when Christ Torrence ran in a 40 yard first quarter touchdown to put South up 7-0. Torrence would be instrumental in the win as he led all rushers with 118 yards on the ground.
The Leopards answered the opening score with a 20 yard first quarter touchdown run by Jason Farkas. Farkas would finish with team-high 12 carries for 97 yards.
The Leps took a 14-7 lead in the third quarter on an 8 yard run by Quarterback Jon Herbert. However, Louisville would managed just three first downs after that as the Leopards were plagued by 9 penalties for 97 yards in the game.
The Widcats rallied in the final quarter starting with Toni Milini’s 7 yard touchdown run with 9:11 left to play. However, Bourquin’s extra point would sail wide to the left keeping the Leopards in the lead 14-13.
Before Bourquin redeemed himself with the game-winning field goal, Canton South drove 58 yards to the Louisville 2. In the remaining 58 seconds, the Leopards would drive all the way to the Wildcats 25 yard line before missing a game winning 42 yard kick of their own.
The victory was Canton South’s first win over Louisville since 1987.
