Louisville Rallies Past Canton McKinley on the Road for First Win – Volleyball

The Louisville Leopards Varsity Volleyball Team earned its first victory of the season Tuesday night, rallying past the host Canton McKinley Bulldogs in four sets at Canton Memorial Fieldhouse. After dropping the opening set, the Lady Leopards responded to win the next three for a 22-25, 25-17, 25-11, 25-22 victory. With the win, Louisville improves to 1-1 on the season.

All-Around Effort Powers Leopards
Kloey Rukavina led the Louisville attack with a team-high 14 kills while also contributing 13 service points. Ella Tillett provided another major presence at the net, pounding down 12 kills and recording a team-best 6 blocks.
Setter Addison Johnston orchestrated the Leopard offense with an impressive 42 assists. Aubrey Johnston led Louisville’s defensive effort with 20 digs while also adding 2 aces from the service line.
The balanced performance helped Louisville bounce back from its season-opening defeat and even its record through the first two matches.
Leopards Take Control After Dropping Opening Set
McKinley struck first with a 25-22 victory in the opening set, but Louisville quickly answered.
The Leopards evened the match with a convincing 25-17 win in the second before completely taking control in the third. Louisville rolled past the Bulldogs 25-11 to move ahead two sets to one.
McKinley provided a tougher challenge in the fourth, but the Lady Leopards held off the Bulldogs 25-22 to finish the match and secure their first victory of the 2026 campaign.
Louisville’s performance was a strong response after falling to Norton in four sets in its season opener. The Leopards dropped the first set Tuesday before outscoring the Bulldogs 75-50 across the final three frames.
Louisville Sweeps McKinley at Every Level
It was a clean sweep for the Louisville Volleyball program at Canton Memorial Fieldhouse.
JV: Louisville 25-25, Canton McKinley 23-14
The JV Leopards remained unbeaten with a straight-set victory over McKinley, winning 25-23, 25-14 to improve to 2-0 on the season.
Freshman: Louisville 25-25, Canton McKinley 12-15
Louisville’s freshman squad was also victorious in its season debut. The Lady Leopards cruised past the Bulldogs 25-12, 25-15 to open their campaign at 1-0.
UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next host the Canton Central Catholic Crusaders in their 2026 home opener on Thursday, August 27 at Louisville High School.
Middle School Leopards Sweep Boardman Squads
The Louisville Middle School Volleyball teams also enjoyed a successful night, combining to win all four matches against the Boardman Spartans’ Maroon and White squads.
8th Grade
The 8th grade Leopards swept both opponents, rolling past Boardman Maroon 25-7, 25-11 and defeating Boardman White 25-18, 25-16. The pair of victories improved Louisville’s record to 5-2 on the season.
7th Grade
The 7th grade Leopards also went 2-0 on the night. Louisville first swept Boardman Maroon 25-10, 25-13 behind 4 aces from Rory Ziemke. The Lady Leps then battled past Boardman White in three sets 25-9, 19-25, 25-14. Delaney Perez and Ziemke each served 7 aces in the victory as Louisville improved to 6-1.
Both Louisville Middle School squads will return to action Thursday at North Canton.
