Louisville’s unbeaten season rolled on Wednesday as the Louisville Leopards defeated the host Austintown Fitch Falcons 39-25 in a hard-fought Eastern Ohio Wrestling League dual. With the win, Louisville improves to 5-0 overall, while Fitch battled back late but couldn’t erase an early Leopards avalanche.
Three Leopard Falls Tilt the Match
Louisville set the tone with three pins on the night, getting falls from Paxton Laughlin (120), Kaiden Barker (144), and Emilio Rodriguez (106). Those bonus-point wins helped Louisville build a cushion that proved vital once Fitch started stringing wins together in the upper weights.
Louisville Blitzes Fitch With 27-0 Opening Run
The match opened with Louisville in full control, ripping off a 27-0 start across the first six bouts. Laughlin got the party started at 120 with a fall at 4:35 over Rylen Hoffman, then Xavier Pollard followed with an 11-7 decision at 126. Louisville kept stacking team points with dominant performances from Colton Rhoads (9-0 major decision at 132) and Liam Montgomery (12-3 major decision at 138). The exclamation point came at 144 when Barker stuck Nick Pugh in 1:26, and Aric Criss capped the opening surge with a 12-3 major decision over Jaylin Danko at 150 to make it 27-0 Louisville.
Falcons Counter, Leopards Stay in Control
Fitch finally broke through at 157 when Stephen Pontius pinned Lucas Neff at 7:08, trimming the margin to 27-6, but Louisville answered immediately. Brayden Elsass steadied things at 165 with a gritty 6-4 decision over Ronell Strickland to push the lead to 30-6 and keep the Leopards in command.
From there, the Falcons made their run. Fitch collected wins at 175 and 190, with Josef Jones earning an 11-1 major decision over Logan Klimes and Stephen Medved taking a 10-5 decision over Micah Bricker to cut Louisville’s lead to 30-13. Louisville countered again at 215, where Jakeb Beard won a tight 2-1 decision over Xzavior Mayo to extend the advantage to 33-13.
The Falcons weren’t done yet, as heavyweight Noah Bolen pinned Chaenyn Saeger in 1:34 to make it 33-19, and a forfeit at 113 later added another six. But Louisville delivered the closing blow at 106, when Emilio Rodriguez pinned Evan Grenamyer in 3:54, sealing the team victory at 39-25.
