The Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Basketball Team fell to the host Alliance Aviators 64-47 Tuesday night at Harry Fails Gymnasium. The loss snaps the Leopards’ 13-game winning streak dating back to their state championship run last season as they fall to 2-1 to start the year.

Balcomb Scores Team-High 15 to Lead Leopards
Cayden Balcomb poured in 11 of his team-high 15 points in the second half to lead the Leopards. Cohen Rogers also hit a pair of three-pointers and scored all 8 of his points in the second half.
Other top scorers included Brandon Sanders with 6 and Luke Boldon who also scored all of his 5 points after halftime. Rounding out the scoring for Louisville were Zach Boldon, Colton Dougherty, and Drake Wilson with 3 points each, and Max Mathie and Cody Zahler with 2 points apiece.
Jackson Drops In Game-High 27 to Power Aviators
Jr Jackson scored 17 of his game-high 27 points in the second half to lead Alliance. He made 3 of his 9 field goals from beyond the arc. Jackson was also a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line in the second half as the Aviators converted 14 of 18 shots from the line as a team.
Four Alliance players reached double figures in the contest. Kam Burton scored 9 of his 12 points in the first half as the Aviators opened up a 33-10 lead at the midway point. Taije Nicholson also poured in 11, Samuel Hays hit double figures with 10, and Parker Woods added 4.
Alliance scored the first seven points of the contest and held Louisville scoreless until Sanders drove inside for a basket at the 3:44 mark of the first quarter. The Aviators would lead 20-4 at the end of one and eventually opened up a 38-10 advantage in the opening minute of the third quarter. The Leopards managed to cut that deficit in half by the start of the fourth quarter and got to within 51-38, but the Aviators followed that with a 6-0 run and never looked back as they improved to 4-0 on the season.
Louisville Vs. Alliance Basketball Series
The loss snaps Louisville’s three-game winning streak against Alliance. The Leopards have still won 5 of their last 7 against the Aviators overall since the disbanding of the Northeastern Buckeye Conference.
Louisville is now 21-47 against Alliance all-time, which includes a 9-27 record on the road in the series. The Leopards have not lost a true road game since the 2024 Torrey Pines Holiday Classic, when they played St. Augustine (California) on its home court. Prior to that, Louisville’s last road losses came at St. Edward and St. Ignatius during the 2023-2024 season.

The Leopards will look to get back on track when they host Austintown Fitch and Northwest in two of their remaining six home games next week.
