Owen Gramoy hit 6 three-pointers and poured in 27 points in the win over Minerva.

The Louisville Leopards (11-7, 8-5) knocked the Minerva Lions (5-13, 2-11) off the jungle throne last night with a convincing 67-47 win.  Owen Gramoy scorched the nets with 6 three-pointers and 27 points to lead the charge for the Leps.  Toby Minster, Mitch Sluss, and Michael Schooley each scored in double figures as well.

Louisville let Minerva hang around in the first half, but exploded out of the locker room on a 17-0 run.  The run was aided by a host of careless Minerva turnovers as well as agressive defensive pressure put on by the Leopards.  The Lions were held off the scoreboard for the first five minutes of the second half at which point they trailed 44-22 after surrendering 23 straight points to Louisville.

Minerva edged back into the game trimming Louisville’s lead down to 13 with 4:27 left in the fourth quarter.  But in less than a minute, the Leopards answered with quick buckets by Billy Lairson and Minster, and a steal and score from Sluss to rip the game open at 62-42.  Gramoy followed that run up with his sixth three-pointer which cleared the Louisville bench.

The student section chanted for double zero and not long after they got what they wanted.  Adam Lundberg came into the game with under two minutes remaining to the deafening roar of the crowd and picked off a Lions pass before being fouled.  He then nailed both free throw attempts sending the Jungle into a frenzy.  Louisville cruised the rest of the way, galloping to their fourth straight win over their archrivals.
