Leopards Dismantle Quakers En Route to Clinching Share of NBC

The Louisville Lady Leopards dismantled the host Salem Quakers 19-0 in 5 Innings Friday. With the victory, the Lady Leopards clinched a share of their sixth straight NBC Title and improved to 14-6 overall and 12-0 in the conference. Louisville has now also won 50 consecutive NBC games.
The Leopards pounded out 23 hits, which included 7 extra base hits. They came out of the gate with a 6-run first and also erupted for 9 runs in the third inning. 10 Different Louisville players had hits and 10 Different Louisville players scored during the muddy contest.
Grace Jackson was a home run short of the cycle and drove in four runs during the contest. In the third inning she hit both a 2-run triple and 2-run double. Emily Cantley also went 3-for-4 with a double and four runs batted in for Louisville.
Annie Woolf led the hit parade by tallying four hits on the evening. Katie Cozy and Meghan Leasure also had 3 hits each. Amy Hoover drew 3 walks, batted 2-for-2, and scored 3 runs as well. Lexi Givens smashed a 2-run triple in the first inning and Casey Corrigan, Hoover, & Leasure provided 2 RBI’s each.
In the circle, Morgan Harris pitched a 6-hit complete game shutout and struck out 5 to improve to 7-3 on the year. She was backed up by a great defense as well. Kylie Zifer made a diving grab in shallow left field to end inning number one and Hoover also fielded a single & threw out a Quaker runner at home to end the third.
With the victory, Louisville has outscored Salem 82-0 since the Quakers joined the NBC in 2012. The Lady Leopards are 8-0 against the Lady Quakers all-time. Louisville joins both Akron Springfield (1994-2001) and Marlington (2000-05) as the only NBC Softball teams to win six straight NBC Titles.
