Decost Records Hat Trick to Lead Louisville
Senior Dillyn Decost led the Leopards with a hat trick and 2 assists in Louisville’s strong offensive effort. Decost opened the scoring on a rebound after a Hudson Rich shot with 10:12 left in the first quarter, struck again later in the period off a feed from Rich, and then completed his hat trick with an unassisted goal late in the second quarter to put Louisville ahead 6-0.
Louisville also received two goals from Parker Daum, who scored once in the third quarter and once more in the fourth. Keegan Coy, Mason Warner, and Kane Johns also found the back of the net in the first half for the Leopards. Coy’s first-quarter goal came off an assist from Decost, while Johns added a second-quarter score off another Decost helper. Warner also scored in the second quarter off a pass from Daum as Louisville built a 6-0 halftime lead.
Schmidt Carries Shutout into Fourth Quarter
Freshman goalkeeper Dean Schmidt turned in an impressive performance in net for the Leopards, carrying a shutout into the fourth quarter. Schmidt repeatedly turned away Blue Streak opportunities and helped anchor a Louisville defense that kept Lake off the scoreboard through the first forty minutes of action.
Lake’s only goal came in the fourth quarter when Jaret McClure scored off an assist from Landon Kurcsak to cut the deficit to 7-1. Schmidt was relieved in the closing minutes to a huge ovation from the home crowd, and sophomore Jerry Clarke kept the net clean the rest of the way to finish off the victory.
