Lady Leopards Win Tournament, Claim 2nd NBC Title in 3 Years

Sierra Townsend Louisville Lady Leopards Golf NBC Tournament

Louisville – 362 (1st)

The Louisville Lady Leopards Girls Golf Team finished in first place at the NBC Tournament Meet at Great Trail Golf Course in Minerva Thursday. With the victory, Louisville wins their second outright NBC Title in 3 years.

The Lady Leopards shot 362 as a team, which is 30 strokes better than their previous two NBC Tournament Meets at Great Trail (They shot a 392 in both 2011 & 2012). Both Gina McVey and Sierra Townsend claimed the top scores in the NBC by shooting an 86 for the day. Rounding out the top scores for Louisville were Katie Warga (90), Adrienne Metzger (100), and Bailey Spring (100).

Both Louisville and Minerva finished 7-1 in the regular season league standings. However, it was the Leopards that shined brighter by 14 strokes Thursday to claim the NBC Title outright.

Louisville also placed third overall in the Tri-County Tournament that was going on simultaneously. McVey & Townsend’s score was good enough for 12th overall individually for this tournament.

LEOPARDS SCORES: Gina McVey 86, Sierra Townsend 86, Katie Warga 90, Adrienne Metzger 100, Bailey Spring 100. TEAM TOTAL = 362.
