On May 6, 2003 the Louisville Lady Leopards cranked out a 22-1 victory over Salem in the DII Sectional Semifinals in setting school tournament records for the most runs scored in a game and also biggest margin of victory. These records stood until Wednesday as Louisville used 25 hits to score 25 runs and defeated their opposition by 22 runs.

The Lady Leopards lit up the scoreboard like it was a football game. They scored 6 in the first, 8 in the second, 10 in the third, and finally added an “insurance” run in the fourth. Brooke Cox led the offense by going 4-for-4 with two doubles and driving in five runs. Chandler Rice also went 4-for-5 with 3 stolen bases, 3 RBI’s, and 3 Runs.

11 Different Louisville players tallied hits in the contest, 10 different batters drove in runs, and 8 Different Leopards scored in the contest. Shelby Swigert recorded 3 doubles and scored 3 times, while both Katie Cozy and Grace Jackson had 3 singles and scored 4 runs each. Jackson also drove in 3 runs herself and the speedy Amy Hoover drew 3 walks and scored 3 times as well.

In the circle, Gianna Falcone earned her 21st victory of the season to break the team record of 20 previously held by Brittany Flanigan (2010). Falcone also struck out 3 during her win that improved her record to 21-3 on the season and 40-3 for her career.

Louisville is now 15-4 at home all-time in tournament games and 2-2 in sectional tournament contests against Green. The Lady Leopards have now defeated the Bulldogs five times in the past two seasons in outscoring them 50-4.  Louisville has now won 11 Sectional Titles overall including one in each of the past four years.  The Leps are now 26-28 all-time in tournament play, but have never won a Division I District Tournament game.
