Lady Leopards Hold Off Warriors to Take Round 1

Louisville powered their way to a 5-0 lead before holding off visiting West Branch 5-4. With the victory the Lady Leopards are now 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the NBC.
Emily Cantley and Annie Woolf each drove in two runs to lead the Louisville Offense. The Leopards 
wasted no time in putting 3 runs up on the board in the bottom of the first. Woolf singled home Grace Jackson to break the ice. Then Cantley blasted a two-run bomb that easily cleared the fence in center. The homer was the first of her career.
Not to be outdone, Woolf banged a home run off of a car in left-center two innings later. It was her third home run against the Warriors in two games.
Louisville’s only other run came in the second inning via Amy Hoover. Jackson singled to left field and the ball was misplayed allowing Hoover to score from first. Jackson finished with 2 hits in the game.
In the circle, Freshman Morgan Harris pitched a complete game to pick up her first career victory. She gave up 3 earned runs on 7 hits, and struckout 6.
With the victory, Louisville has now won their last 20 meetings against West Branch. The Lady Leopards lead the all-time series 40-15. Louisville has now won 56 of their last 57 NBC games including the last 39 in a row.
