Lady Leopards Fall in Finale to Central, Seniors Honored

The Louisville Lady Leopards fell to the visiting Canton Central Catholic Crusaders 54-45 on Senior Night Wednesday. With the loss, Louisville finished the 2013-14 Regular Season with a record of 7-15.

Rachel Zeller led the Lady Leopards with a team-high 15 points that included 3 makes from Beatty's Sports Leopards Pink Winter Hatdowntown. Hollyann Mullett also added 8 points which included a buzzer-beater at the end of the third quarter. Sarah Lairson also hit 2 three-pointers and scored all 7 of her points in the fourth quarter.

Louisville trailed by 9 early on in the final quarter, but trimmed the Central lead to 42-39 with 3:20 left in the game. The Crusaders doubled up the Leopards the rest of the way 12-6 to take the game.

Central Catholic was led by a trio of Miller’s. Hannah Miller hit all 3 of the Crusaders three-pointers and scored a game-high 19 points, Sarah Miller also scored 13, and Katie Miller added 9. Central finishes the regular season 11-9.

The loss snaps Louisville’s four game winning streak over Central, but the Lady Leopards have taken 8 of the last 10 games in the series overall. The Crusaders lead the all-time series 21-17 and the series is now even at 8-8 when played at LHS.

Before the contest, Louisville honored its 6 Seniors that included Hollyann Mullett, Emily Nees, Taylor Noble, Morgan Paulus, Hanna Skolosh, and Rachel Zeller. Louisville scored the final 9 points of the contest to down visiting Central Catholic 34-30. With the victory, JV finishes the 2013-14 season at 9-13 after winning 5 of their final 6 games.

Danielle Walter scored 7 of her game-high 13 points in the final quarter to lead the Lady Leopards. Alexa Oberster also poured in 11 and Tessa Joseph added 4.

The Crusaders were led by Lexie DeMatteis who scored a team-high 12 and Emilee Flynn who scored 6.
