Lady Leopards Bounce Back with Sweep of Salem

Louisville 25-25-25, Salem 16-12-15

After falling in the NBC opener Tuesday, Louisville rebounded by wiping the floor with Salem in three Beatty's Sports Nothing is Given Shirt Full Size Adsets Thursday at Louisville High School. The Lady Leopards defeated the Quakers 25-16, 25-12, 25-15. With the victory, Louisville is now 2-2 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

Offensive leaders for the Leopards included Emily Hollifield with 10 kills, Haley Shadle with 33 assists, and both Grace Jackson & Rachel Mathie with 12 points serving each. Mathie also tallied 4 aces.

Mathie also led the defense with 12 digs. Both Kayla Cole and Brynn Guist each recorded 2 blocks as well.

Salem appeared to be dominate the night before when they hosted Minerva. The Quakers defeated the Lions in three sets Wednesday 25-13, 25-20, 25-22. It was a different story when they came to The Jungle Thursday as they fell to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in league play.

Louisville is now 2-5 against Salem since the Quakers entered the NBC in 2011. The Leopards only other victory in the series came at home in 2012, the year they won the conference crown.

UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next travel to Canton South to take on the Wildcats. JV begins at 5:00 PM and Varsity will follow at approximately 6:00 PM.
