Louisville trounced the Raines Vikings (Jacksonville, Florida) 75-37 Friday in the championship game to claim their second straight KSA Tournament Title. The Leopards also beat the McDowell Trojans (Erie, Pennsylvania) 53-46 in the semifinals Thursday morning and the Farmington Phoenix (Farmington, Utah) 52-47 in the quarterfinals played Wednesday afternoon as part of the Pre-Holiday Tournament held at Gaylord Palms Resort in Kissimmee, Florida. Louisville has now won 6 straight games and is 8-1 on the season.

Championship: Louisville 75, Raines (FL) 37
Senior Hayden Nigro scored 11 of his game high 17 points in the opening half to lead the Leopards to a convincing championship game win Friday afternoon over the Raines Vikings from Jacksonville, Florida. Nigro also hit a pair of three-pointers in the second quarter that helped Louisville take a 40-18 lead in the the half.
Junior forward Brayden Gross scored 9 of his 14 points in the first quarter as the Leopards shot out to a 21-8 advantage eight minutes in. Junior guard Ashton Marshall also registered 6 points in the opening quarter and finished in double figures with 11.
Louisville converted 29 field goals including 9 three-pointers. Junior forward Austin Wade led the Leopards beyond the arch with 3 three-pointers for the afternoon.
Louisville never looked back leading 61-26 at the end of three before outscoring Raines 14-11 in the fourth quarter.
The Vikings (11-2) were led by 6’8 junior center Cole Pourciau who scored a team high 12. Junior guard Kenneth Devine also tallied 8 and senior point guard Jeremiah White scored 6.
Semifinal: Louisville 53, McDowell (PA) 46
Junior forward Brayden Gross scored 10 of his team high 16 points in the second half to lead the Leopards to a 53-46 semifinal victory Thursday morning over the McDowell Trojans out of Erie, Pennsylvania.
Senior guard Hayden Nigro and junior point guard Beau Siegfried also finished in double figures with 13 each. Nigro scored 8 points in the third quarter to help Louisville rally from a 22-20 halftime deficit to take a 38-35 lead into the fourth quarter. Siegfried cashed in on a pair of three-pointers and scored 10 of his 13 points in the second half including 7 in the fourth quarter to help the Leopards secure the win.
The Trojans were led by senior captain 6’6 shooting guard Tyler Grove who scored 12 of his game high 20 points in the second half. Junior point guard Quentin Orlando also finished in double figures with 12 and junior guard Kamden Kramer added 8.
Quarterfinal: Louisville 52, Farmington (UT) 47
Junior forward Brayden Gross scored 10 of his team high 18 points in the opening half to lead the Leopards in their 52-47 quarterfinal win Wednesday Afternoon against the Farmington Phoenix out of Farmington, Utah.
Junior point guard Beau Siegfried also finished in double figures with 12 and senior guard Hayden Nigro tacked on 8 for Louisville. Siegfried made a pair of three-pointers in the opening quarter to lead the LHS charge to start the tournament. The Leopards led 14-11 after one, increased their advantage to 31-25 by halftime, and pulled in front 46-39. Farmington would outscore Louisville 8-6 in the final frame, but the Leopards hung on for the 5-point victory in the end.
Senior 6’8 power forward/center Paul Beattie led the Phoenix with 12 of his game high 21 points in the second half. Senior shooting guard Jayden Haskell hit a pair of three-pointers and finished in double digits with 11. Senior power forward Carter Nordquist also added 7 for Farmington.
A total of 1,773 miles* separate Louisville High School and Farmington High School. This is the second furthest distance between the Leopards and their opponent in any sport. Only the distance of 1,794 miles* between Louisville High School and Pleasant Grove High School was further.
Louisville defeated Pleasant Grove 50-40 in the KSA Events Holiday Tournament last year. Just like Raines High School, the Leopards championship game opponent this year, Pleasant Grove’s nickname was also the Vikings. And a win over the Vikings is always a good thing in Leopard Nation…
