Leopards Exterminate Hornets 81-50 on Senior Night – Boys Basketball

The Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Basketball Team crushed the visiting Cleveland John Hay Hornets 81-50 on Senior Night Saturday at Louisville High School. Louisville closes the regular season winning 12 of its final 13 to finish the regular season with a record of 17-5.

Seniors Lead the Way on Senior Night
Seniors Devin Bailey, Brayden Gross, and Ashton Marshall all finished in double figures to lead the Leopards’ scoring attack. However, it was senior Beau Siegfried who directed it all, dishing out a game-best 13 assists.
Siegfried electrified the crowd, connecting with Gross on a pair of alley-oops in the first half. Gross also registered another dunk on a full-court pass from senior Tate Aljancic. Gross would finish with a game-high 24 points to go along with 5 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks.
Devin Bailey and Ashton Marshall both scored in every quarter and led Louisville on the glass. Marshall poured in 22 points, hit 3 three-pointers, had a team-high 9 rebounds, recorded 5 assists, and finished with 2 steals. Bailey scored 13 points, made 2 three-pointers, pulled down 7 boards, and tallied 2 steals.
Louisville’s seniors dominated, accounting for all 81 points in the victory. Kolton Loy also scored 8, Siegfried hit a pair of treys to account for 6, and both Aljancic and Austin Wade finished with 4 each. Siegfried also tallied 2 steals.
Wells Game-High 24 Not Enough for John Hay
Melvin Wells made 4 three-pointers and scored a game-high 22 to lead the Hornets. Wells accounted for 15 of John Hay’s 19 points in the first half as Louisville opened up a 46-19 advantage at the break.
Taevon Walker made a pair of three-pointers and scored all 8 of his points in the third quarter. Achauntez Glenn also accounted for all of his points in the third quarter. The Hornets outscored the Leopards 20-9 in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to 55-39 heading into the final period.
Louisville regrouped and dominated the fourth quarter, outscoring John Hay 26-11 to cruise to a 31-point win. Quincy Boyd made the Hornets’ only three-pointer in the final stanza and finished with 5.
Other scorers for John Hay included Jamiel Dunn, Elijah Ford-Beasley, and Dieysean Rosser who scored 2 points each.
The Hornets finish the regular season with a record of 9-13. This was the first=ever meeting between the two schools in boys basketball.
UP NEXT: The #4 seed Leopards will next host the #53 seed Akron North Vikings in the DIII, Northeast 6 Sectional Finals on Saturday, February 22. Game time is set for 7:00 PM from Louisville High School.
