Horton Scores Lone Louisville Goal in Tie with Manchester

The Louisville Lady Leopards Girls Soccer team tied the visiting Manchester Panthers 1-1 Monday Evening at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the tie, Louisville is now 0-1-2 on the season.

The Leopards struck early when Brianna Horton booted in her first career goal with 38:07 left in the first Beatty's Sports Yellow Long Sleeved Shirthalf. She is the first Freshman to score for Louisville since Lizzy Mont found the net in the 2012 Tournament game at North Canton. Horton’s score came via a Hannah Baughman corner kick to give the Lady Leopards an early 1-0 advantage.

It took awhile, but Manchester answered back when Morgan Starcher scored a goal with 30:38 left in the game. Teammate Kelly Mirman provided the assist on the play.

Devin Kring spearheaded the defensive attack for Louisville to preserve the tie the rest of the way. The Lady Leopards are now 2-1-1 against the Lady Lady Panthers all-time. This marked the first meeting between the two squads since August 28, 2006.

UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next host the Salem Quakers on Wednesday, August 27. JV will begin at 5:00 PM followed by Varsity at 7:00 PM.
