Louisville Rallies in 4th to Halt Hillsdale 3-1 – Softball

The Louisville Leopards Varsity Softball Team rallied for a 3-1 victory over the visiting Hillsdale Falcons Saturday at the Diamond of Dreams. With the win, Louisville improves to 8-1 on the season.

Rylee Squire hit a 3-run homer in the bottom of the fourth inning to lift the Leopards past the Falcons. Kaycee Ollis reached base on an error and then Alex Fankahuser singled to put runners on first and second. Fankhauser would finish with 2 of the 5 Louisville hits for the game.

In the next at-bat, Squire ripped a 3-1 pitch over the right field wall giving LHS a 3-1 lead. The dinger was her second of the season.

The Falcons grabbed the lead in the first inning when Smetzer reached on an error scoring Rogers from third. Outside of that, the Leopards pitching shutdown Hillsdale for the game.

Starter Morgan Harris improved to 4-0 on the season by pitching 4 innings, giving up 0 earned runs on 3 hits, and striking out 4. Sarah Cantley finished out the final 3 frames, did not allow a base runner, and struck out 6 to earn her second career save.

With the victory, Louisville is now 1-1 against Hillsdale all-time. The Lady Leopards are now 3-1 in non-conference play this season.

UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next travel to North Canton Hoover to take on the Vikings on Monday, April 17 at 5:00 PM.
