Hard Work Pays Off for LHS Speech and Debate at Local Districts and Beyond State Lines

LHS School Record 13 State Qualifiers

Lingenhoel Group - Arden and Lisa Lingenhoel - Cutler Real Estate AdThe Louisville Speech and Debate team has had huge success the past couple of weekends. The first weekend in February, the team competed at the State Qualifying tournament at Jackson Middle School where the team had a record thirteen qualifiers in a variety of categories.

State Qualifiers include Nadia Keyes and Gavin Millard in Humorous interpretation, Tayleigh Folden and Taryn Allgood in Declamation, and Carolina Ivey in Program Oral Interpretation. Also, representing the Leopards will be Darien Yoder in Informative Speaking and Beth Balough, Noah Capo, David Fraizer and Emma Patterson in Congressional Debate. Megan and Maggie Begue qualified in Duo Interpretation, as well as Robert Duncan in Lincoln Douglas Debate.

Also achieving district success were receiving top ranks were Jessie Stewart and Kenna Oberster.

Black Hawk Invitational in Bethel Park, PA

My Fit Life Personal Trainer AdThe weekend of February 7-8, a select group of students traveled to Bethel Park, PA for the Black Hawk Invitational at Bethel Park High School. We had major success at this tournament with finalists in many different categories.

Our Quarterfinalists included Jessie Stewart and Harley Nunez in Original Oratory, Katie George in Humorous Interpretation and Ally Ivey in Dramatic Interpretation. Semi-finalists include Nadia Keyes in Humorous Interpretation and Megan and Maggie Begue in Duo Interpretation.

Our finalists and placers included Emma Patterson in Congress receiving first place and David Fraizer in third place also in Congress. Carolina Ivey and Robert Duncan also received third place in Program Oral Interpretation and Lincoln Douglas Debate respectively. Darien Yoder received fifth place in Informative Speaking and Gavin Millard received sixth place in Humorous Interpretation. 

The team will be traveling to Glenoak High School to spend Valentine’s weekend competing at the National Qualifying tournament!
