GlenOak 2, Louisville 1
The 4th Seeded Louisville Lady Leopards Girls Soccer team fell to the 8th Seeded GlenOak Golden Eagles 2-1 Thursday Evening in the DI Austintown Sectional Finals at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the loss, Louisville finishes the season with a record of 9-6-1.
The Golden Eagles scored both their goals in the opening half. Marrisa Dimichele scored on a penalty kick just under nine minutes into the contest and Ashley Miihlbach tapped in the other goal with 26:31 remaining in the first half.
The Leopards had several opportunities in the second half to score, but only managed one goal off a penalty kick. After a hold in the box, Rachel Baughman netted the PK with 15:49 remaining in the contest to cut the GlenOak lead in half. For Baughman it was her 32nd goal of the season tying Carley Adams for second most individual goals in a single season. She finishes her career with a team record 118 goals.
There were several close opportunities in the box after that. Baughman headed in a goal off a corner kick, but a foul erased the goal. The Golden Eagles avenged a 6-1 loss to the Lady Leopards earlier this season and also a 1-0 overtime loss to Louisville in the Sectional Finals last season.
The Lady Leopards are now 8-4-3 all-time against the Golden Eagles which includes a 5-3-1 record at Louisville. The Lady Leopards were previously undefeated at home this season, but with the loss finish 5-1-2 at Louisville Leopards Stadium.
