Girls Basketball’s Streak Snapped, Carrollton Forces NBC Share

The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team fell to the host Carrollton Warriors 57-41 in the Beatty's Pink Winter Hat 2015NBC Finales Wednesday Night at Carrollton High School. With the season series split, both teams finish 13-1 in the league as Co-NBC Champions. Louisville is now 18-2 overall.

Sarah Lairson led the Lady Leopards with game-highs of 18 points, 8 steals, and 5 assists. Abby Beaver also scored 8 points, Ellie Jackson dropped in 6 points, and Emily Hollifield finished with a team-high 6 rebounds for Louisville.

The Lady Leopards found themselves behind early on in the contest. Propelled by the momentum of Senior Night and a chance at an NBC share, the Lady Warriors built a 26-9 advantage with 4:35 left in the second quarter.

Out of a timeout, Louisville answered back with 8 straight points. They finished the half on a 14-1 run to cut the deficit to 27-23 at the break. The Leopards held Carrollton scoreless from the field for a span of 5:56 total. They got to within 27-25 when Beaver charged through the defense for a lay-in to start the third.

The momentum shifted back to the home Warriors after that. They scored the next 8 points to build back Order Leopard Nation Highlight Videoa double advantage. Ali Poole hit 3 three-pointers in the third quarter alone and led the Carrollton cause by scoring a team-high 16 points and recorded 3 blocks.

The Lady Warriors would take a 43-29 lead in the fourth quarter and led by as many as 17 points. Cailee Husted also scored 13 points & grabbed 8 boards, Mikayla Poole scored 11 points, had 5 assists, & recorded 5 steals, and Roz Pridemore finished with a game-leading 9 rebounds for Carrollton. A large key to the Warriors success was a 33-21 edge on the boards and a 12-0 advantage in second chance points. Carrollton finishes the regular season with an overall record of 17-5.

Carrollton has now defeated Louisville in 6 of their past 7 meetings, which includes the last 4 played at CHS. The Lady Leopards still lead the all-time series 35-22, which includes a 15-13 mark at Carrollton.

UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next host the Green Bulldogs on Monday, February 8. JV will tip at 6:00 PM and Varsity will follow around 7:30 PM.

The Leopards JV Team took apart the host Warriors 55-31 Wednesday Evening at CHS. With the victory, Louisville improves to 18-2 overall and is finishes with a 13-1 mark against NBC foes.
