Girls Basketball Squashes Salem 62-33

The Louisville Lady Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball team started their second half NBC schedule with a 62-33 win over the host Salem Quakers Saturday at John A. Cabas Gymnasium. With their 11th consecutive victory, Louisville improves to 11-1 overall and stays an undefeated 8-0 in conference play.
Sarah Lairson scored a team-high 13 points to lead the Leopards. Sabryna Benzel also added 11 and Emily Hollifield reached double digits with 10 for Louisville.
The Lady Leopards defense throttled the Lady Quakers as they took a 30-11 halftime lead. Louisville held Salem to only 3 points in the second quarter alone. Ten different Leopards scored in the game as Louisville cruised to victory in the second half.
The Quakers were led by Helene Shontz who scored a game-high 14 points. Allee Davidson also scored 7 and Chloe Cheresne scored 5 for Salem.
With the victory, the Leopards have now won 11 of their last 12 meetings with the Quakers. Louisville leads the all-time series 12-6 overall, which includes a 5-4 mark at Salem.
UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next host the West Branch Warriors on Wednesday, January 13. JV will begin at 6:00 PM and Varsity will follow around 7:30 PM.
