Girls Basketball In Elite Company With Win At Minerva

The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball team defeated the host Minerva Lions 48-39 Beatty's Pink Winter Hat 2015Wednesday Night at Minerva High School. With their 16th straight victory, Louisville improves to 16-1 overall and remains a perfect 12-0 in the NBC.

Sarah Lairson led the Leopards with a game-high 15 points. Emily Hollifield and Grace Jackson also broke double digits with 10 points each for Louisville.

The Leopards jumped out to a 13-8 lead at the end of the first quarter and built a 27-18 lead by halftime. Louisville extended their advantage to double digits leading 38-28 at the end of the third before cruising to the win column in the final eight minutes.

The Lions (13-6, 8-4) were led by Josie Chaddock who scored a game-high 15 points. Bri Gassman also reached double figures with 11 and Logan Pottorf scored 7.

With the victory, the Leopards have now won 9 of their last 10 meetings against the Lions. This was the Order Leopard Nation Highlight Video60th meeting between the two teams and Louisville now leads the all-time series 41-19 overall. This includes an 18-11 mark in games played at Minerva.

The win also puts the Lady Leopards in elite company as they become just the fourth team to win 16 consecutive games in Louisville Girls Basketball Team History.

The Leopards JV Squad bounced back with a 33-24 victory over the host Lions Wednesday Evening at Order Leopard Nation Highlight VideoMHS. With the win, Louisville improves to 15-2 overall and 11-1 against NBC foes.

Alexis Beaver scored a game-high 9 points to lead the Leopards. Erin Hahn also dropped in 8 and Maggie Galentine added 7 for Louisville.

The Leopards held the Lions to single digits in all four quarters. Minerva held an early 5-4 lead after one before Louisville rallied to go up 15-11 at the break. The Leopards took command of the contest by outscoring the Lions 14-4 in the third quarter and rolled to victory after that.

Minerva was led by Nelle Yankovich who scored a team-high 8 points. Nora Yankovich also scored 6 and Reiley Cowart scored 5 for the Lions.
