Girls Basketball Falls in Opening Round of Jackson Holiday
Jackson 62, Louisville 44
The Louisville Lady Leopards fell to the host Jackson Polar Bears 62-44 Monday Evening in the opening round of the Jackson Holiday Classic Tournament at JHS. With the loss, Louisville is now an even 4-4 on the season.
Emily Hollifield scored a team-high 17 points to lead the Lady Leopards. Abby Beaver and Sarah Lairson each broke double digits with 10 points a piece for Louisville as well. Lairson also dished out 5 assists while Beaver recorded 3. On the boards, both Sabryna Benzel and Grace Jackson finished with 10 rebounds each.
The turning point in the contest came in the third quarter when the Lady Bears outscored the Lady Leopards 21-11. This turned a 28-24 Jackson halftime lead into a 49-35 advantage for the Polar Bears heading into the final stanza.
Jackson was led by Taylor Mikesell who scorched the nets with 5 three-pointers and a game-high 22 points. Caitlin Tytler also scored 8 and Shannon Sellari added 7 for the Lady Bears.
UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next play the Green Bulldogs in the consolation match of the Jackson Holiday Classic Tournament at JHS. Varsity will play first at 6:00 PM in the Main Gym and JV will follow at 7:30 PM in the Auxiliary Gym.
