Freshman Basketball Off to a 3-2 Start

Louisville Leopards Freshman Basketball vs. Minerva Lions

The Louisville Leopards boys freshman team is off to a 3-1 start in the NBC and a 3-2 start overall.  Below is a write-up of each contest and pictures from the game vs. Minerva this past Wednesday:


Louisville 57, Carrollton 31

The Leopards pulled away from the Warriors by outscoring them 18-2 in the third period before winning the game 57-31.  Blake Hoover led all scorers with 14 points, while Jake Mathie and Austin Shaheen each scored 7.

Louisville 40, West Branch 31

Hoover again led the Leps by pouring in 14 points to down another Warriors squad 40-31 at West Branch.  Chaston Henschen also added 6 points as ten different Louisville players scored during the contest.



St. Thomas Aquinas 63, Louisville 39

The freshman squad faced their toughest test of the early season when they traveled across town to take on the Knights.  Joe Crank hit 2 three-pointers and led the Leopards with 9 points, but Louisville still fell to Aquinas 63-39.  Shaheen and Mathie also combined for 15 points during the battle of the 44641.

Louisville 47, Canton South 45

The Leopards got back to their winning ways when they traveled to Canton Township to take on the Wildcats.  Hoover dropped in 12 points, Marco Buccasso added 9 points, and Mathie also scored 8 points as Louisville got a thrilling 47-45 win to move to 3-0 in the NBC.

Minerva 42, Louisville 37

The Leps first NBC loss came when they hosted Minerva at Louisville Elementary School.  Buccasso reached double-digits with 10 points, Shaheen scored 8, and Crank finished with 7 during the loss.
