FRESHMAN BASKETBALL: Marlington Edges Louisville

Marlington at Louisville Freshman Basketball 12-19-2011

Marlington 34, Louisville 31

Blake Hoover led the Leps with 9 points, while Austin Shaheen added 8, but Louisville still fell at home to Marlington 34-31.  Trailing 34-29 with 8 seconds remaining, Hoover drove in for a layup and was fouled.  He then perfectly hit the back iron giving Louisville’s Jarrod Movan an opportunity for a rebound and an extra possession.  But the Dukes blocked Louisville’s ensuing shot attempt and were quickly fouled.

The Leopards received one more opportunity after the Dukes missed the front end of a 1-and-1, but the potential game-tying three from the left wing fell wide of its mark.

Ben Martin led Marlington with 16, while Marcus Devier also poured in 10 for the Dukes who hit 6 three-pointers on the evening.  Martin hit four from long range.  Jake Mathie also scored five points, including the Leopards only three-pointer.
