Beatty's Sports Football 2018 Schedule Shirt T-ShirtThe Louisville Leopards opened the 2015 Season with a 40-14 thrashing of the visiting Canfield Cardinals Friday Night at Louisville Leopards Stadium.

Quarterback Jake Adams finished the night 18 of 22 for 308 yards with 4 passing touchdowns and 1 rushing touchdown to lead the Leopards. Adams top target was Tyler Adams who made 8 receptions for 147 yards and caught touchdown passes of 40 and 50 yards.

Alec Jones also made 6 catches for 74 yards and caught a pair of touchdowns. His 30 yard touchdown grab opened the scoring the first quarter to cap off a 7 play, 79 yard drive for Louisville. He also caught a 12 yard pass with 3:33 left in the fourth quarter for the final nail in the coffin making it 40-14.

My Fit Life Personal Trainer AdConner Bast did not find the endzone, but made 3 big receptions for 81 yards. His 36 yard catch near the end of the first quarter setup the Leopards on the Cardinals 3. Runningback Rahzul Young surged his way through an opening paved by Lineman Terry Gooch and Jarrett Heater on the next play to put Louisville up 14-0. Young would end the evening as the game’s leading rusher with 84 yards on 26 carries.

The Cardinals only two touchdowns came after takeaways generated by short-field opportunities. In the second quarter, Paul Breinz intercepted a deflected pass to setup Canfield at the Louisville 37. Nine plays later, Runningback CJ Frost pounded the ball in from a yard out. Frost would finish the night with 11 touches for 55 yards on the ground.

In the third quarter, Angelo Petracci forced a fumble and Cody Holland fell on it giving the Cardinals the football on the Leopards 21. On the second play of the drive, Canfield Tailback Jared Clark found a hole and scampered 16 yards to the endzone for the score. Clark would finish as the Cardinals leading rusher with 15 carries for 70 yards.

Canfield out-rushed Louisville 170-107 for the night. However, the Leopards out-passed the Cardinals 308-16, which gave them the edge in total yards 478-123. Louisville has now defeated Canfield in each of the past four seasons and leads the all-time series 4-2. This includes a 2-1 mark at home.
