The Louisville Leopards Wrestling Team dominated the Eastern Ohio Wrestling League (EOWL) Tournament over the weekend, finishing with 243 points to claim the championship at Austintown Fitch High School. The Leopards outpaced 28 other teams, including runner-up Austintown Fitch, to secure the top spot in the tournament.

This marks Louisville’s fifth EOWL Tournament championship in six seasons. They previously claimed EOWL titles in 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2024.

Pollard, Rhoads, Barker, & Nezbeth Take 1st

Four Leopards claimed individual championships, leading the charge for Louisville’s team victory:

Xavier Pollard (113): Pollard went undefeated, finishing his title run with a 17-1 technical fall in the championship match over Frank Quinlan (Boardman). He racked up 31.5 points for the Leopards with two pins and a forfeit en route to the finals.
Colton Rhoads (120): Rhoads scored 29.5 team points, sealing his championship with a 9-6 decision over Markel Hackwelder (Hubbard). His impressive performance included two pins and a technical fall.
Kaiden Barker (132): Barker earned 30 points and the 132-pound title with a hard-fought 4-1 decision over Aidan O’Donnell (Howland) in the finals. Barker notched three pins and showcased his resilience in a narrow 2-1 semifinal win over Marlington’s Luke Stanley.
Beau Nezbeth (144): Nezbeth delivered another stellar performance, earning 29.5 points and securing his championship with a 1-0 decision over Joey Kana (Salem). His tournament included two pins and a technical fall.

Criss, Bolyard, and Beard Shine

Louisville saw additional top finishes from several wrestlers who advanced deep into their brackets:

Aric Criss (138): Criss placed 2nd, scoring 23 points. He tallied a fall, major decision, and a decision in the semifinals before falling in the finals to Bobby Buchheit (Beaver Local) 10-0.
Abel Bolyard (157): Bolyard also finished 2nd, contributing 24 points. His tournament was highlighted by a decisive 1:22 pin over Bo Julian (Crestview) and a semifinal win by fall over Edward Stachowicz (South Range).
Jakeb Beard (215): Beard took 3rd place, earning 22 points. He rebounded from a semifinal loss with two victories, including a pin in the consolation semifinal and a 7-1 decision in the 3rd place match over Landon Durstine (Southeast).

Laughlin, Bricker, and McCrobie Add Key Points

The Leopards’ depth across weight classes played a pivotal role in their championship run:

Paxton Laughlin (106): Laughlin placed 5th, scoring 17 points. He recorded four falls, including a lightning-fast 29-second pin in the opening round.
Micah Bricker (190): Bricker placed 4th and added 19.5 points. He showcased his versatility with pins, a technical fall, and also received a forfeit win to clinch a spot in the consolation final.
Zander McCrobie (285): McCrobie finished 7th, scoring 9 points. He secured two falls and capped off his tournament with a 3-2 decision in the 7th place match.
