Cozy Becomes New HR Queen as Softball Smashes South

The Louisville Leopards slugged their way past the visiting Canton South Wildcats 10-1 Thursday Evening at LHS. With the win, Louisville improves to 13-6 overall and 9-1 in NBC play.
Katie Cozy and Grace Jackson each homered twice to lead the Leopards. Cozy’s solo homer to left in the bottom of the third was the 21st of her career making her LHS’s new Home Run Queen. Chandler Rice previously held the career record with 20.
Jackson would finished 4-for-4 with 4 extra base-hits (2 doubles, 2 homers) and 6 runs batted in. Her 2-run homer in the fourth inning was the 18th of her career surpassing Desi Givens for third place on the all-time LHS Career home run list. Jackson would later hit a towering fly ball to center field in the sixth for her 9th home run of the season & her third multi-homer game of her career.
Not to be outdone, Cozy batted next and ripped her second home run of the contest over the left field fence to make it 10-1 Leopards. For Cozy, it was also her third multi-homer game of her career and first since 2012 (Vs. Minerva and at Salem). Louisville has hit 21 home runs this year as a team.
In the circle, Morgan Harris pitched a complete game, gave up 0 earned runs on just 3 hits, and struck out 6 for the Leopards. Harris improves to to 6-0 against the NBC this season.
With the victory, Louisville has now defeated Canton South in 14 straight meetings. The Lady Leopards now lead the all-time series 44-20, which includes a 21-7 record at home.
