Louisville Wins Overtime Thriller Against Cardinal Mooney – Boys Lacrosse

The Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Lacrosse Team earned a thrilling 12-11 overtime victory over the visiting Cardinal Mooney Cardinals Friday Night at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the victory, Louisville evens their record at 2-2.
Zach Burkhardt scored the game-winning, sudden death goal in overtime to lift the Leopards past the Cardinals. The goal was his seventh of the game, which ties the Louisville single game scoring record. The mark was previously set by Matt Davide who also scored 7 goals in a 16-4 win against Lake last season. Burkhardt rounded out his stat line with a game-high 9 ground balls to go along with an assist.

Nate Hostetler and Sean McKinney also scored a pair of goals each for the Leopards. Matt Swigert had the other Louisville score.
The Leopards held a 29-22 edge in retrieving ground balls for the night. Hostetler recorded 4 and Ethan Bellew, Louie Johnson, BJ Singer, and JD Willaman all picked up 3 ground balls each.
With the victory, Louisville now leads the all-time series 3-0 over Cardinal Mooney. This is the first overtime game in Leopards team history.

UP NEXT: The Leopards will next host the Kent Roosevelt Rough Riders on Tuesday, April 11. JV will begin at 5:30 PM and Varsity will follow around 7:30 PM.
