Boys Lacrosse Licks Lake, Davide Scores Record 7 Goals
Louisville 16, Lake 4
The Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Lacrosse Team picked up right where they left off from last year in the season opener at Louisville Leopards Stadium. They built a 15-1 halftime advantage before rolling to a 16-4 victory over the visiting Lake Blue Streaks Friday Night.
Leopards Attackman Matt Davide set a team record by scoring 7 goals during the onslaught. At one point, Davide scored 3 goals in a span of 1:19 during the second quarter. Louisville set a team record for goals in quarter with 10 and goals in a half with 15.
Fellow Attackman Jared Holland, along with alumni Jake Mathie, held the previous individual school mark of 6 goals in a game. Holland played a role in the record again as he assisted Davide 3 times in the second quarter. Holland would record all of his game-high 4 assists in the second period alone and also reached Hat Trick status during the frame.
Nate Hostetler added a pair of first half goals and added an assist for the Leopards. Other goal scorers for Louisville included Zach Burkhardt, Mark Soehnlen, Bradley Terra, and Jordan Mack. Additionally, Louie Johnson and Davide tallied assists.
A key to the Leopards success was winning 16 of 22 face-offs and holding a 34-15 advantage in ground balls. Soehnlen led the charge in both departments winning 8 of 11 face-offs and fielding a game-high 7 ground balls. Kohlten Bryan also won 6 of his 7 face-offs & scooped 5 ground balls. Johnson also snagged 5 ground balls for Louisville.
Leopards Goalie Jared Davis was also solid in the net allowing just 2 goals in three quarters worth of work. All 4 of Lake’s goals were scored by Matthew Anderson. Aiding his scores were Alexander Ellison, Chad Holmes, Tyler Butterfield, and Andrew Weiland. The Blue Streaks are now 1-1 on the season.
With the victory, Louisville now leads the all-time series 2-0 against Lake. The Leopards also defeated the Blue Streaks 16-2 last season.
UP NEXT: The Leopards are next scheduled to host the Eastlake Warriors on Tuesday, March 29 at 7:00 PM. The matchup will be Varsity Only at Louisville Leopards Stadium.
