Louisville Drops Opener After Canfield 4th Quarter Rally – JV Football
Canfield 14, Louisville 12
The Louisville Leopards JV Football Team fell to the visiting Canfield Cardinals 14-12 Saturday Morning at Louisville Leopards Stadium.
The Leopards built a 12-0 halftime lead off two touchdown passes by Quarterback Tyler Jackson. He found Broc Pickens, who made a man miss, for a 19 yard score on 4th-and-3. Later, Jackson went over the top to Clayton Elder in the endzone from 23 yards away.
The Cardinals rallied back led by Quarterback Ethan Fletcher who scored on touchdown runs from 9 and 3 yards away. After his first score with 8:36 to go in the game, Fletcher rolled right then back left before finding Luke Morell in the left corner of the endzone for the two-point conversion. Fletcher also burst through for a 27 yard run to setup Canfield goal-to-go. His score gave the Cardinals their first lead at 14-12 with 4:44 remaining.
The Leopards Vince Fehn blew up the conversion try with a sack and proceeded to fire up the offense on his way to the sideline. Louisville drove inside the redzone on their final drive aided by a 27 yard completion from Jackson to Pickens just in-bounds down the right sideline.
Two plays later, a third down pass deflected into the hands of Canfield’s Fletcher for an interception at the Cardinal 4. On offense, Fletcher ran for two more first downs to ice the game for Canfield.
