Boys Soccer Blanks Nordonia in Weather Shortened Match
Louisville 2, Nordonia 0
The Louisville Leopards Boys Soccer team shutout the visiting Nordonia Knights 2-0 in a weather-shortened match Thursday Night at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With their fourth straight victory, Louisville improves to 4-2 on the season.
Bailey Adams scored a goal in each half to lead the Leopards. Alex Stefanik and Derek Zeller each recorded assists as well.
Sophomore Midfielder Kyle Mayle setup Louisville’s first goal by stealing the ball away from a Knights player. Mayle pushed the ball ahead
to Stefanik in the center of the field.

Stefanik then slid a pass ahead, seemingly through a Nordonia defender, and it found the feet of Adams. Adams dribbled forward 10 yards and kicked the ball from the left of the box into the right side of the net with 34:27 left in the opening half.
After that, the heavens opened up and rain poured into Louisville Leopards Stadium. Neither team found the net again before halftime and Louisville took a 1-0 lead into the break.
The Leopards extended their advantage to 2-0 a little over four minutes into the second half. After an injury timeout, Zeller launched a free kick from just passed midfield that took two Louisville bounces in the penalty box toward the goal. The Knights goalie missed the save and Adams flushed it home from the goal box to put the Leopards ahead 2-0 with 35:58 left in the second half.
Nordonia threatened to cut the Louisville lead in half on the other end. However, lightning flashed from the sky just before the Knights went to take a corner kick. The clock stood still at 31:36 left in the second half and the two teams went into a weather delay which lasted approximately a half hour. The rain and lightning did not let up and the game was officially called around 8:37 PM giving the Leopards the victory.
