Boys Soccer Blanks Alliance 3-0 in Home Opener

The Louisville Leopards Boys Soccer Team opened up league competition by shutting out the visiting Beatty's Sports Fall 2016 Louisville Leopards Blue HatAlliance Aviators 3-0 in their home opener at Louisville Leopards Stadium Tuesday Night. With the victory, Louisville is now 1-2 overall and 1-0 in NBC play.

After being outscored 12-0 in two road games to open the season, the Leopards flipped the script with a dominating performance in the league opener against the Aviators.Three different Louisville players found the net during the contest including Mitch Perez, Derek Zeller, and Alex Stefanik.

The first two goals came via assists by Bailey Adams. In the first half, Micah Storlie stepped in front of an Alliance pass near midfield and pushed it along to Hunter Foley. Then, Foley scooted the ball to a wide open Adams on the right side of the box. Adams dribbled for a few seconds before sending a pass to the center which Perez one-timed into the net. The goal gave the Leopards their first lead of the season at the 26:02 mark of the first half.

Adams did everything but score for the Leopards as he alone outshot the Aviators 10-7. Adams used his JennCanAddribbling to create opportunity after opportunity and hit the crossbar several times. Louisville as a team out-shot Alliance 30-7 and held a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Louisville added to their lead in the second half. Zeller headed home a goal off a free kick by Adams at the 34:58 mark. Later on, Stefanink would apply the final nail in the coffin on a wild play in the waning minutes of the game. His shot ricocheted off three Aviators defenders before finding the net to put the Leopards ahead 3-0 with 9:32 remaining.

On defense, Jarrett Zwick recorded 7 saves in earning the shutout in goal. Jordan Davis, Matt Perez, Leopard Nation $5 Challengeand Storlie also made play after play on defense to keep the Aviators grounded on the scoreboard.

With the victory, Louisville has now defeated Alliance in 3 consecutive meetings and also the last 3 meetings at home. The Leopards have not lost to the Aviators at home since moving their games to the turf of Louisville Leopards Stadium. LHS still trails the all-time series 5-10-1, which includes a 3-5 record in games played at Louisville in the series.
