Boys Basketball Noble in Win Over Dukes

The Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Basketball Team downed the host Marlington Dukes 62-52 Tuesday Night at MHS. With the victory, Louisville improves to 4-2 overall and 3-1 in the NBC.

Drew Noble finished with a team-high 22 points and a game-high 20 rebounds to lead the Leopards. Beatty's Louisville Leopards Hoodie White Winter 2015Chris Libertore also dropped in 12 points and Jared Holland, Jarett Heater, and Jake Pukys all finished with 7 each. Pukys and Rahzul Young each had 3 assists on offense as well.

Louisville trailed 24-23 at the half, but used a 19-10 third quarter to take control of the game. The Leopards outscored the Dukes 20-18 in the fourth quarter to take the game.

Louisville shot 21 of 52 (40.4%) from the floor compared to Marlington who made 17 of 51 (33.3%) field goals. The Leopards also held a 37-29 advantage on the boards.

Brock Begue made 4 of the Dukes 5 three-pointers and threw in a game-high 35 points. Andrew Brady also finished with 6 points, Mitchell Baxter had 4 steals and 3 assists, and Drew Adams snagged a team-high 8 rebounds for Marlington.

With the victory, the Leopards have now defeated the Dukes in 4 consecutive meetings. Louisville now leads the all-time series 65-38, which includes a 29-20 record in games played at Marlington.

The Leopards JV Squad suffered their first NBC loss of the season 55-54 to the host Dukes. With the Order Leopard Nation Highlight Videoloss, Louisville drops to 3-3 overall and 3-1 against the NBC.

Brandon Wahl made 4 three-pointers and finished with a game-high 17 points to lead the Leopards. Jared Mathie and Bryce Zuppe also each added 9 points for Louisville.

Marlington grabbed an early 14-10 after the first quarter. The Leopards tied the game at 28-28 by halftime and went up 37-36 at the end of the third. The Dukes rallied and would snatch the lead from the Leopards in the final seconds. Louisville missed two free throws with 2.1 seconds remaining to fall 55-54.

Marlington was led by Austin Brady who scored a team-high 17 points. Blaine Himelheber also scored 12 and Mike Huberty added 9.
