Bob Gladieux Scores Only Notre Dame TD in Game of Century
Gladieux Catch Leads to National Title
I don’t know about you, but I’m starving for football. In an attempt to satisfy my craving I came across this video of Louisville’s own Bob Gladieux. His 34-yard touchdown catch was the only Notre Dame touchdown during what has been dubbed the “Game of the Century” after Michigan State and the Fighting Irish played to a 10-10 tie on November 19, 1966.
After both teams finished the season 9-0-1, Notre Dame still claimed the AP National Championship. Thus because of Gladieux’s catch, the Fighting Irish won a National Title. Gladieux went on to be drafted 8th overall by the Boston Patriots in the 1969 NFL draft. He is looked upon by many Leopards fans as the greatest player to put on a Louisville uniform.
Game Film Coming
I am currently converting game film from the 1964 season from VHS to digital video. These highlights will be released on this site and will include the following games:
9/11 Vs. Glenwood
9/18 Vs. Canton South
9/25 at Leetonia
10/9 at North Canton
10/17 at Poland
11/13 at Minerva
and 1961 Freshman Highlights for the 1964 Senior class!
If anyone else has Leopards highlights from any year or any sport I would be happy to convert them and add them to the site. Leave a comment below or email me at louisvilleleopards.org@gmail.com
