Baseball Powers Past Perry in Sectional Semifinals
Louisville 10, Perry 3
The 7th seeded Louisville Leopards defeated the visiting 12th seeded Perry Panthers 10-3 in the DI Canton Sectional Semifinals Tuesday. With the victory, Louisville improves to 17-10 on the year and advances to play top-seeded Jackson on Wednesday in the DI Canton Sectional Finals at 4:30 PM.
Stephen Kerzan batted 3-for-4 with a double, 2 runs scored, and a run batted in to lead the Leopards. Joe Crank also finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a pair of runs scored for Louisville.
The Panthers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but by the end of the second inning the Leopards had snatched the lead back at 3-2. Tyler Adams RBI Triple gave Louisville the lead that they would never relinquish. Adams and Dalton Deckerd recorded 2 hits and an RBI each on the evening.
On the mound, Jake Adams pitched 6.2 innings, gave up 3 runs on 7 hits, and struck out 2 in earning the victory for the Leps. Adams remains a perfect 5-0 on the hill this season.
Perry was led by Drew Galayda who tallied 2 hits. Tyrus Jones and Rece Sabo each recorded RBIs for the Panthers who fall to 2-20-1 on the year.
Jake Adams, Adam Nyland, and Reis Rankin also had RBI hits for Louisville.
UP NEXT: The Leopards will next travel to Jackson to take on the top-seeded Polar Bears on Wednesday, May 13 at 4:30 PM in the DI Canton Sectional Finals.
