Baseball Falls in Scrimmage Shootout at Jackson
Jackson 17, Louisville 12, 8 Innings
The Louisville Leopards Varsity Baseball Team lost a shootout to the host Jackson Polar Bears 17-12 in 
scrimmage action Tuesday Afternoon at Jackson High School. With the loss, Louisville drops to 1-1-1 in the preseason.
Dalton Deckerd batted 3-for-4 and drove in 5 runs to lead Louisville. Deckerd’s 3-run triple highlighted the Leopards 4-run sixth inning. He also hit a 2-run single as part of Louisville’s 6-run seventh inning.
After combining to score just 4 runs through the first four innings, the two teams managed to light up the 
scoreboard for 25 runs over the next 4 innings. The Polar Bears used a 7-run fifth inning to build a seemingly insurmountable 10-1 lead. The Leopards rallied, but could not overcome the deficit.
Brock Haren, Nathan Mongiardo, and Corey White had RBI hits for Louisville. Trevor Burk and Tyler Croxton also tallied RBIs for the Leopards.
UP NEXT: The Leopards Varsity & JV will next host the Canton McKinley Bulldogs in a scrimmage on Wednesday, March 23 at 12:30 PM. Freshman will hit the road for Boardman at 5:00 PM Thursday.

The Leopards JV Squad dropped an 11-5 decision to the visiting Polar Bears in an 8-inning scrimmage Tuesday Afternoon. With the loss, Louisville falls to 1-2 in scrimmages this season.
Bryce Zuppe led the Leopards by going 1-for-3 with an RBI double in the 3rd, 2 stolen bases, and a run scored. Anthony Carpico and Dillon English also each drove in runs for Louisville.
Louisville managed just 4 hits in the contest. Dillon Deckerd, Brendon Hoffman, and Brandon Wahl had the only other hits. Wahl scored 3 runs and stole a base for the Leopards.
On the mound, Cameron Prasco started the game and struck out 4. Zuppe and Jack Davis also combined to work the final two innings scoreless.

Freshman: Louisville 10, Jackson 9
The Leopards Freshman Team edged the visiting Polar Bears 10-9 in scrimmage play Tuesday Afternoon at LHS. With the win, Louisville improves to 2-0 in the preseason.
Max Hartline went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double, 2 RBIs, and 3 runs scored to lead the Leopards. Austin Cummings also batted 2-for-4 with 3 RBIs and Dillon Rebuck drove in a pair of runs.
In addition for Louisville, Jackson Kandel and Caleb Prasco tallied RBIs. Prasco went 2-for-3 at the dish & scored a pair of runs and Justin Blyer also reached home twice in the game as well.
On the hill, Josh Nolte earned a two-inning save in working both the sixth and seventh innings scoreless. Dom Mongiardo also struck out 3 in three innings in relief.
