Baseball Falls in Last of 7th at North Canton Hoover

Nick Binnie’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh drove in Jarid Seemann to lift the host North Canton Hoover Vikings past the visiting Louisville Leopards 4-3 Monday evening. With the loss, Louisville falls to 1-5 on the season.

New Leopard Head Coach Brian Warner’s squad played lights out during the first four innings of his return to Hoover. For the third time this season, Tyler Adams started the Louisville lineup with an extra base hit. Adams ripped a double to center, advanced to third on a passed ball, and then came home via a passed ball to give the Leopards the early 1-0 advantage in the opening inning.

Louisville took a 3-0 lead by adding two more runs in the third inning. Jake Adams came home virtue of a wild pitch and Alex Hewitt crushed a single down the right field line bringing home Stephen Kerzan.

Paul Howard’s complete game effort on the mound kept the Leopards in the contest until the very end. He held the Vikings scoreless through the first four innings before North Canton managed to carve out three runs in the bottom of the fifth. Howard allowed nothing to come easy for the Vikings offense.

North Canton was led by Sam Russo who finished 2-for-4 with an RBI triple and a run scored. Michael Magana also finished 2-for-3 for the Vikings and Vinny Serapiglia had an RBI. Seemann also led off the seventh with a double to setup the winning run.

UP NEXT: The Leopards will next host the Minerva Lions on Tuesday, April 7 at 4:30 PM. JV will be on the road at Minerva during the same time.

The Leopards JV Team’s undefeated start ended with an 8-6 defeat at the hands of the visiting Vikings Monday. With the loss, Louisville drops to 5-1.

Casey Nau finished 2-for-3 with a double and Brennan Seemann also scored 2 runs to lead the Leopards. Tyler Croxton, Brendon Hoffman, and Issac Mathie all tallied RBIs for Louisville as well.

Hoover was led by Eric Sarbaugh who batted 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored and Eli Blackledge who drove in a pair of runs. Hayden Evans, Donny Genetin, and Jordan Hite each finished with 2 hits as well for the Vikings.

The Leopards Freshman Squad defeated the visiting Vikings 8-5 Monday evening. With the win, Louisville evened their record at 3-3.

Jack Davis batted 1-for-2 with a double and 3 RBIs to lead the Leps. Drew Doerschuk also hit 2-for-2 with with an RBI, Satchel Strickmaker had 2 hits, and Dylan English scored 2 runs in Louisville’s winning effort.

North Canton was led by Gallagher who finished 1-for-2 at the plate with a double and 3 runs driven in. Hoover also had 2 hits and scored 2 runs.
