Banner Lifted, Records Fall on Senior Day for Softball

Louisville 19, Alliance 2, 5 Innings
The Louisville Lady Leopards demolished the visiting Alliance Aviators 19-2 in 5 Innings on Senior Day Tuesday. With their 12th consecutive victory, Louisville improves to 19-6 overall and clinches a share of their 7th straight NBC Title with a 12-1 record in conference play.
Emily Cantley, Katie Cozy, and Grace Jackson all batted 3-for-4 for the game, drove in 4 runs, and homered. Jackson’s 2-run homer to center in the second inning made her the new LHS Single Season Home Run Queen with a school record 11 home runs this year. Two batters later, Cantley homered to right field for her 4th dinger of the season.
While Jackson set the new mark, Cozy is behind it by only the slimmest of margins. The Senior Catcher/Shortstop hit a towering 3-run bomb in the third inning and also a solo shot in the fourth inning to record her 5th multi-homer game of her career. Cozy has now cracked 10 home runs this campaign, which makes her and Jackson the first Louisville teammates to reach double digit home runs in the same season. With the four home runs today, the Leopards as a team have tied the school record with 29 home runs this season (2014 record).
Louisville pounded out 20 hits in four innings as a team. Savannah Miner and Kylie Zifer each had 2 hits & 2 RBIs each. The Givens Sisters made up of Leandra & Lexi also cracked a pair of hits each for the Leopards.
In the circle, Morgan Harris pitched a complete game and struck out 5 to earn the victory for Louisville. Harris is now a perfect 7-0 in NBC games and 10-3 on the season overall.
The Lady Leopards have now defeated the Lady Aviators in 12 consecutive contests, including the last 7 at LHS. Louisville now leads the all-time series 20-5, which includes an 11-2 home mark against Alliance. The Leopards have now won 64 out of their last 65 NBC games.
Prior to the game, Louisville honored their three Seniors Katie Cozy, Lexi Givens, and Kylie Zifer. Leopard Nation would like to personally thank these three Seniors for all their hard work & dedication in making the Louisville Softball Program what it is today! We wish them the best of luck after high school!
UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next host the Marietta Tigers on Thursday, May 14 at 4:30 PM in the DI Massillon Sectional Semifinals.
