The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team won their season opener 57-33 over the visiting Austintown Fitch Falcons Wednesday Night at Louisville High School.

Barwick and Haren Register Double Figures
Junior Courtney Barwick scored a game high 18 and senior Brooke Haren poured in 17 to lead the Lady Leopards. Other top scorers for Louisville included sophomore Maggie Baker with 8 and fellow sophomore Taylor McCully with 6.
The Lady Leopards wasted no time in taking their first lead of the season. Junior Chay Cline won the opening tip that was retrieved by Haren in the forecourt. She then stepped in front of the three-point line and drilled a deep two. It was quick redemption for Haren who suffered a season ending injury late last season at Northwest.
A few minutes later, Barwick drilled a shot from the right elbow to make it 4-0 and Louisville was off an running. The Lady Leopards would take a 17-4 lead on a buzzer beater by Haren that capped off a 9-0 run to end the first quarter. Louisville would pull ahead 27-15 at the half, increase its lead to 41-25 by the end of the third, and finished with its largest advantage of the game after doubling up Austintown Fitch in the fourth quarter 16-8.
Barwick Named Player of the Game
In addition to her efforts on offense, Barwick was also key in shutting down All-County and All-ACC player junior Destanie McCullough who was held to 6 points. Barwick was named Carrabba’s Player of the Game after the contest by Straggat Media.
Junior Lannie Henning led the Lady Falcons with a team high 9 and junior Dasiyia Donlow also added 5 for Fitch.

Louisville is now 2-0 all-time against Austintown Fitch. The Lady Leopards also hosted the Lady Falcons on January 4, 2021. Louisville also won that contest convincingly 55-27.

Sophomore Sammi Beatty made 3 three-pointers and finished with a game high 13 to lead the JV Lady Leopards in their 33-26 loss to the visiting Lady Falcons. Freshman Reese Riley also scored 5 for LHS.
Austintown Fitch was led by sophomore Amiya Harris who finished with a team high 11. Freshman Kaliana Ray also finished with 8 for FHS.
