Louisville Completes Perfect Dual Season with 44-27 Win Over Austintown Fitch – Wrestling

The Louisville Leopards Wrestling Team continued their strong season with a 44-27 Senior night victory over the visiting Austintown Fitch Falcons in a competitive matchup on Thursday night. The Leopards secured key bonus-point victories through seven falls, two technical falls, and a major decision to hold off the Falcons. Louisville finishes a perfect 7-0 in dual matches the season.
Leopards Surge Ahead with Early Dominance
The dual opened at 106 pounds, where Austintown Fitch gained an early lead due to a forfeit. However, Xavier Pollard (113) quickly responded by pinning Evan Grenamyer in just 1:05, leveling the score at 6-6.
Louisville kept rolling with Colton Rhoads (120) earning a first-period pin over Dom Fantone in 1:53 to give the Leopards their first lead at 12-6. Mikhail Montgomery (126) extended the advantage with a 13-6 decision over Alessio Farrell.
At 132 pounds, Kaiden Barker delivered another strong performance, securing an 8-1 decision over Evan Protopapa to widen the gap to 18-6.
Technical Falls and Pins Boost Louisville
Aric Criss (138) added another dominant performance with an 18-3 technical fall against Joey Janis, and Beau Nezbeth (144) followed with pin over Mason Darby, putting Louisville firmly in control at 29-6.
Fitch briefly stopped Louisville’s run when Ronell Strickland (150) pinned Beck Anderson (1:59), cutting the score to 29-12. However, the Leopards regained momentum behind Abel Bolyard (157), who dominated Stephen Pontius with a 19-4 technical fall, extending the lead to 34-12.
Louisville Seals the Victory
At 165 pounds, Wyatt Smith earned a 19-5 major decision over Alec Marcum, adding four points to Louisville’s total to clinch the win at 38-12.
Austintown Fitch made one final push with Alec Marcum (175) pinning Brayden Elsass in 5:37 and Devin Phillips (190) earning a 10-5 decision over Micah Bricker, trimming Louisville’s lead to 38-21.
But Jakeb Beard (215) ended Fitch’s winning streak by securing a 3:49 fall over Cam’ren Natali, bringing the score to 44-21. The final bout at 285 pounds saw Noah Bolen (Fitch) win by disqualification over Zander McCrobie, finalizing the 44-27 win for the Leopards.
UP NEXT: The Leopards will next compete in the DI Euclid Sectional Tournament on Saturday, February 22. Action will take place at Euclid High School.’
