The Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Basketball Team fell to the visiting Archbishop Hoban Knights 65-34 Friday Night at Louisville High School. With the loss, Louisville drops back to .500 at 7-7 on the season.
Dakota Hoffman hit a pair of three-pointers and scored all of his team-high 9 points in the first half to lead the Leopards. Tyler Boldon also tacked on 6 points and both Will Aljancic and Broc Pickens added 4 points each.
Knights Take Command After Early Run
Pickens went hard to the hole on the opening possession of the game to give Louisville a 2-0 lead. That lead evaporated quickly as Archbishop Hoban scored the next 12 points to take a double digit cushion. At the end of one quarter, the Knights led 18-10.
Boldon hit his mark on a three-point attempt on the Leopards initial second quarter possession. A few minutes later, Pickens drove down the center of the lane again for a basket to put LHS within 18-15. However, Hoban once again answered with a 7-0 run to up the margin to double figures.
Hoban Pulls Away in 2nd Half
The two teams would end up scoring an even 14 points each in the second quarter. As a result, the Knights maintained their eight point advantage heading into the half up 32-24.
Archbishop Hoban took complete command of the game in the second half. The Knights outscored the Leopards 14-1 in the third quarter which was part of an 11:04 span in which they held Louisville scoreless from the field. Hoban led 46-25 at the end of the third and continued to add to their lead in the fourth quarter before claiming a 65-34 victory.
Young Leads Knights with Game-High 16
Archbishop Hoban was led by Isaiah Young who scored a game-high 16 points. Jonas Nichols also poured in 13 and Juwan Coates scored all of his 12 points in the fourth quarter for HHS.
The Leopards are now 0-3 against the Knights all time with this the first meeting in the series played at Louisville. LHS had previously lost to Hoban in two DII Canton Sectional Final games in 1998 and 2008.
UP NEXT: The Leopards will hit the road to take on the Orrville Red Riders on Friday, February 5. JV will begin at 5:30 PM and Varsity will follow around 7:00 PM.
