Leopards Take Off Against Aviators in Scrimmage – Softball

Louisville 18, Alliance 1, 5 Innings

The Louisville Leopards Varsity Softball Team routed the visiting Alliance Aviators 18-1 in a 5 inning scrimmage Monday Evening at the Diamond of Dreams. With the win, Louisville improves to 2-0 on the preseason.

Pitcher Shae Thomas batted 3-for-3 with 3 RBIs to lead the Lady Leopards offense. Thomas cracked an RBI single as part of a 7-run Louisville third and smacked a 2-run double during the Leopards 8-run fourth inning. Thomas also earned the victory in the circle pitching the first three innings, giving up 1 unearned run on 1 hit, and fanning 1 batter. Sarah Cantley also pitched two hitless and scoreless innings while striking out 4 in relief.

Sydney McKeever also finished 3-for-3 at the top of the lineup for Louisville. Despite only three plate appearances, she scored 6 times including crossing the plate thrice in the fourth inning alone. Due to the nature of the scrimmage, McKeever scored 3 times as a courtesy runner as well. Katie Porter in similar fashion scored 4 runs.

All in all the Lady Leopards pounded out 15 hits for the game. Kaycee Ollis and Lexi Zavarelle both batted a perfect 2-for-2 for the evening. Cantley went 1-for-1 with a 2-run single and 3 RBIs. Kaylee Nolte, Teagan Rice, and Ollis all recorded a pair of RBIs each as well.
