Louisville Suffers First Loss as CVCA Pulls Away 4-2 – Girls Soccer

The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Soccer Team suffered its first loss of the season, falling 4-2 to the visiting CVCA Royals Saturday night at Louisville Leopards Stadium. Louisville twice rallied from one-goal deficits in the first half before CVCA scored late in each half to secure the victory.
With the loss, the Lady Leopards move to 3-1 on the season while the Royals improve to 3-0-1.

Riley, Rodriguez Twice Pull Louisville Even
CVCA struck first on a goal by Ashtyn Kurz in the 12th minute, but Louisville answered later in the opening half.
Reese Riley brought the Lady Leopards level at 1-1 when she scored unassisted with 10:31 remaining before halftime.
The tie lasted just 1:32 before Kurz found the net for a second time to put the Royals back in front 2-1 with 8:59 to play in the half.
Louisville responded once again. Ruby Rodriguez scored with 5:46 remaining to knot the contest at 2-2 and give the Lady Leopards their second equalizer of the night.
Winslow Gives Royals Halftime Edge
CVCA reclaimed the lead for good in the closing minutes of the opening half.
Jane Winslow scored with just 1:41 remaining before the break to put the Royals ahead 3-2. The goal capped a five-goal first half in which Louisville twice battled back from a one-goal deficit.
Neither team would score for most of the second half as Louisville remained within a goal deep into the contest.
Edgein Records 11 Saves Against Royals Attack
CVCA generated the greater number of chances throughout the match, finishing with a 15-7 advantage in shots on goal.
Louisville goalkeeper Tristyn Edgein turned away 11 of those 15 attempts to keep the Lady Leopards within striking distance. Despite being outshot, Louisville created pressure of its own and finished with a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The Leopards remained within one goal until the closing minutes, but the Royals finally added some breathing room late.
Dodson Scores Game-Sealing Goal Late
Stella Dodson put the game away for CVCA with 2:07 remaining, scoring the only goal of the second half to extend the Royals’ advantage to 4-2.
Louisville was unable to answer in the final minutes as its perfect 3-0 start to the season came to an end.
Royals Take Lead in All-Time Series
Saturday’s matchup was just the second meeting all-time between Louisville and CVCA.
The programs first met on October 6, 2025 at Royals Stadium, where the Lady Leopards rallied from a 2-0 halftime deficit to earn a 2-2 draw. CVCA’s victory Saturday gives the Royals a 1-0-1 advantage in the young series.
CVCA has outscored Louisville 6-4 across the two meetings, with the Lady Leopards scoring twice in each contest.
