The Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Soccer Team opened the 2026 season with a 2-0 shutout victory over the visiting Copley Indians Thursday night at Louisville Leopards Stadium.

Daum Gives Leopards First-Half Lead
Louisville broke through with 23:13 remaining in the first half on a connection between Maddox Mayle and Parker Daum.
Mayle set up Daum for the finish as the Leopards grabbed a 1-0 advantage. The goal was Louisville’s first of the 2026 season and proved to be all the offense the Leopards would need.
Keister Records Nine Saves in Shutout
Copley had an opportunity to answer from the penalty spot later in the opening half, but Leopard goalkeeper Justin Keister came up with a critical save to keep the Indians off the scoreboard and preserve Louisville’s one-goal advantage.
Copley continued to challenge the Louisville defense throughout the match, but Keister and the Leopards refused to surrender the equalizer.
Keister finished with nine saves on the night, including the first-half penalty kick stop, as Louisville carried its 1-0 advantage deep into the second half.
Lindner Seals Victory in Final Minutes
The Leopards finally added an insurance goal with just 1:58 remaining in regulation.
Cale Lindner found the back of the net unassisted to extend Louisville’s lead to 2-0 and put the game away.
The Leopard defense closed out the remaining minutes to secure its first shutout of the season and give Louisville a victory in its 2026 opener.
Louisville Wins Second Straight Against Copley
Thursday’s victory was Louisville’s second consecutive win over Copley and improved the Leopards to 2-1 all-time against the Indians.
Louisville has shut out Copley in each of the past two meetings. The Leopards earned their first victory in the series with a 3-0 road win at Copley last season before following it with Thursday’s 2-0 home triumph.
The Leopards have also held the Indians scoreless for two straight matches after Copley won the inaugural meeting 6-0 in 2008.
