Seven-Run Third Propels Leopards Past Aviators in Akron – Baseball

The Louisville Leopards Varsity Baseball team used a 7-run third inning to propel past the Alliance Aviators Thursday night at 7 17 Credit Union Park in Akron. The victory snaps Louisville’s two-game skid as they improve to a winning mark of 6-5 on the campaign.

Louisville Varsity Leopards defeated Alliance Varsity Aviators 9-1 on Thursday at 7 17 Credit Union Park thanks in part to seven runs in the third inning. catcher’s interference scored one run, Grayson Brunoni singled, scoring one run, Jake Beard doubled, scoring two runs, Max Roberts singled, scoring one run, Luke Seaman singled, scoring one run, and Zander Triplett singled, scoring one run.
A double by Lincoln Reese on the sixth pitch of the at-bat put Alliance Varsity Aviators on the board in the top of the third.
Caleb Mayle started the game for Louisville Varsity Leopards. The hurler gave up one hit and one run (zero earned) over five innings, striking out three and walking four. Reese opened the game for Alliance Varsity Aviators. The starting pitcher gave up five hits and six runs (five earned) over two innings, striking out one and walking three. Cody Zahler and Landyn Fohner each came on in relief for Louisville Varsity Leopards and shutdown Alliance Varsity Aviators.
Louisville Varsity Leopards collected 14 hits in the game. Beard provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Louisville Varsity Leopards with four runs batted in. The catcher went 1-for-2 on the day. Zahler, Brock Leghart, Triplett, Brunoni, and Seaman each collected two hits for Louisville Varsity Leopards. Triplett paced Louisville Varsity Leopards with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up seven walks for the game.
Charlie Ekey and Reese were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected one hit for Alliance Varsity Aviators. Reese led Alliance Varsity Aviators with one run batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Alliance Varsity Aviators turned three double plays in the game.
Louisville Varsity Leopards welcome Dover on Monday for their next game.
