The Louisville Leopards Varsity Softball Team shutdown the host Frederick Douglas Broncos 3-1 Saturday morning at Frederick Douglas High School. With the victory, Louisville evens its record at 3-3 on the season.

Gionino's Pizzeria Oakwood - Mobile AdBoth teams were strong in the circle on Saturday, but Louisville Varsity Leopards defeated Frederick Douglass Varsity Lady Broncos 3-1. Katelynn Miller started the game for Louisville Varsity Leopards and recorded 21 outs.

Miller struck out 14 batters on the day. The starting pitcher also gave up three hits and one run over seven innings while walking four.

Frederick Douglass Varsity Lady Broncos opened the scoring in the fourth after Kadynce Sanders singled, scoring one run.

West Main Vet Clinic AdLouisville Varsity Leopards captured the lead, 3-1, in the top of the sixth when Miller laid down a sacrifice bunt, scoring two runs, and Kaitlin Twinem grounded out, scoring one run.

Haley McGuire stepped in the circle first for Frederick Douglass Varsity Lady Broncos. The righty allowed four hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out five and walking three.

Miller led the team with two runs batted in. Twinem, Shae O’Neill, Anna Sirohman, and Leah Claugus each collected one hit for Louisville Varsity Leopards.

Sanders led Frederick Douglass Varsity Lady Broncos with one run batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Jarynn Bowman led Frederick Douglass Varsity Lady Broncos with two hits in four at bats. Frederick Douglass Varsity Lady Broncos turned one double play in the game.
