Rogers Explodes for 28 to Lead Louisville Comeback

Cohen Rogers scored 22 of his game-high 28 points in the second half to lead the Leopards’ come-from-behind victory. Rogers also made 3 of his 4 three-pointers in the second half, and registered game-highs of 4 assists, 3 steals, and a block.

Louisville trailed by as many as 11 points, 30-19, early on in the third quarter before stringing together a 16-2 run. The Leopards defense came alive during that stretch with three straight steals by Drake Wilson, Rogers, and Brandon Sanders that directly led to 6 Louisville points to get them to within 32-30.

After a jump ball and a Leopard timeout, Rogers buried a three-pointer with about a minute remaining in the third quarter to give Louisville its first lead since the start of the game when they led 2-0. Cody Zahler followed with a steal and score to cap off the run giving the Leopards a 35-32 lead. The Greenmen briefly retook the lead in the final minute, but Rogers cashed in on another three-pointer in the final seconds of the third quarter to give Louisville a 38-36 lead heading into the final stanza.

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdRogers added 9 more points in the final quarter including hitting another three-ball to get the Leopards to within 48-47 following a steal by Colten Norris. The three ignited a 7-0 Louisville run that ended with a Rogers steal and score to make it 51-48 in favor of the Leopards. Rogers’ pickpocket came just seconds after Zahler tipped away a pass and took it the other way to put Louisville in front by one. Zahler recorded 3 steals, converting each into his own fast-break points.

Later on, Rogers finished a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw stripe in the final 23.6 seconds to remove all doubt.

The 28 points scored by Rogers is the most by a Leopard in a tournament game since Hayden Nigro scored 30 in Louisville’s record-setting 108-32 win over Akron North in the 2024 sectional semifinals. Will Aljancic’s 37 points still remains the team postseason record during the Leopards 90-86 overtime win against Cleveland Glenville in the 2022 DII Regional Semifinals.
