The #24 seed Louisville Leopards Girls Basketball Team fell to the host #8 seed Avon Lake Shoregals 51-22 in the DIII Northeast 4 District Semifinals Tuesday night at Avon Lake High School. The loss snapped the Lady Leopards’ 7-game winning streak as they finish the 2025-26 campaign with a final record of 13-11.

Quartette Leads Leopards with 5 Points Each

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdMaggie Baker, Mabel Kiko, Mikayla Salmons, and Ella Tillett all scored 5 points each to lead Louisville.

Tillett recorded 3 blocks in the opening quarter and scored the Leopards’ lone point in the period from the line as they fell behind 9-1 after eight minutes.

Louisville trailed by as much as 19-1 before Salmons split a pair of free throws to double the Leopards’ total. Salmons’ steal and score in the final minute of the first half ended Louisville’s 15-minute field-goal drought to open the game. Baker then scored in the final seconds off a feed from Tillett to trim the deficit to 21-6 by halftime.

West Main Vet Clinic AdKiko made her presence felt with five quick points out of the locker room to help the Leopards keep pace with the Shoregals at 26-11. She would finish with a team-best 5 rebounds as well as 2 blocks. 

Avon Lake surged ahead on a 12-0 run, but Louisville scored again in the final seconds, this time on the inverse of the last-second second-quarter combination. Baker found Tillett this time to make it 38-13.

Tillett scored her second bucket early in the fourth quarter to make it 40-15. The Shoregals continued to pull away in their final home game with a 9-0 run to take their largest lead of the contest at 49-15. Baker broke the string with a three-pointer to close out her stellar Lady Leopard career. 

A pair of free throws by Salmons and a pair of free throws by Ava Seitz in the final minutes rounded out the Louisville scoring.


Miller & Milligan Combine for 35 to Power Shoregals

Gionino's Pizzeria Oakwood - Mobile AdOlivia Miller scored 11 of her game-high 20 points in the fourth quarter to lead Avon Lake. Miller made 3 of the Shoregals’ 7 three-pointers in the game.

Molly Milligan scored all of her 15 points from the field in the first three quarters of action. She also made a three-pointer as part of her 9 points in the third quarter that allowed Avon Lake to open up a 25-point advantage after three.

Frankie Persia also cashed in on a pair of three-pointers. Riley Koury added a triple and finished with 4. Rachel Besaw, Erin Dean, and Mariela DiTullio all added 2 points each to round out the Shoregal scoring.


Louisville’s Season Ends at Avon Lake Again

Avon Lake has now won 3 of its last 4 improving to 16-7 on the season. They will travel to Elyria High School Saturday to take on the winner of Wednesday’s #16 Lake at #3 Canfield district semifinal matchup.

This is the second straight year that Louisville’s season has come to a close at Avon Lake. In their only other meeting. the Shoregals also defeated the Leopards 41-23 in the district semifinals last season.

Lady Leopards’ 100th Tournament Game

This was Louisville Girls Basketball’s 100th tournament game all-time. The Lady Leopards are 50-50 since their first tournament in 1977. Louisville has now lost its last three road tournament games and is 2-10 all-time in the postseason when playing on the opposition’s home court. 

The Lady Leopards have now dropped 10 straight district tournament games dating back to their last district championship appearance in 1996. Louisville is 6-13 in district semifinal contests all-time.
