The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team fell to the host Wooster Generals 40-34 at the Holiday Hoopsgiving Showcase Sunday night at Wooster High School. With the loss, Louisville is now 0-3 on the season.

Salmons Scores Game-High 10 for Louisville

Gionino's Pizzeria Oakwood - Mobile AdMikayla Salmons scored all of her game-high 10 points from the field in the first three quarters to lead the Lady Leopards. Mabel Kiko finished with 8 points,  Ella Tillett added 7, and Makayla Tanner tacked on 5 to round out Louisville’s top scorers. Kiko and Tanner hit the only LHS three-pointers. Kloey Rukavina and Lilly Seaman also added a basket each.

The Lady Leopards trailed 6-0 from the onset, but answered with a 7-0 run to take their first lead. Wooster led 9-7 at the end of the first quarter, but Louisville rallied to knot the game at 20-20 by halftime. 

Kiko found Salmons in the lane for the first points of the second half to give the Lady Leopards a 22-20 lead. Louisville held a lead for most of the third quarter before the Lady Generals scored back-to-back buckets to take a 30-29 lead into the fourth quarter.

Tillett scored the only Louisville baskets in the final period, including underneath off an inbound to tie the game at 34-34 with 3:39 remaining.


Cannon and Hackett Lead Wooster with 9 Each

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdKara Cannon and Jay-Cee Hackett led Wooster with 9 points each. Cannon hit a three-pointer as part of her 5-point first quarter and also led the team with 4 points in the fourth quarter. Hackett scored all of her points in the final three periods.

Brooke Ritchie made the Generals’ only other three-pointer and finished with 7 points all in the first three quarters. Amelia Correll also added 6 including a pair of clutch free throws ice the game for Wooster, making the score 38-34, with 15 seconds left in the game. 

Prior to that, Anna Melrose grabbed a key rebound and scored on a putback to give the Lady Generals a 36-34 lead to with 2:41 remaining. Melrose would match Kayla Reid with 4 points for the night, while Lillyan Timko rounded out the Wooster scoring by splitting a pair of free throws in the third quarter.


Leopards Vs. Generals Girls Basketball Series

West Main Vet Clinic AdThe victory was the first for the Lady Generals over Louisville since 2017 when they won by a stunning 96-38 score at LHS. The Lady Leopards still lead the all-time series 6-5, but the series is now even at 2-2 in games played at Wooster.

Louisville won the previous two matchups against Wooster at home, a 67-54 regular season win in 2024 and a 45-29 victory in the 2025 sectional finals.
